Well-experienced teachers are in charge of this class and studentsgradually play with them and other friends. Students feel how fun spending time with friends in kindergarten througha great deal of experience. On sunny days, students enjoy playing, running, and exercising at green the field and theground in kindergarten. Surprisingly, after coming back from outside, they become calm while they do other activitiesin the classroom. No worries about rules in kindergarten! Teachers and other senior students who are good at takingcare of gradually teach these rules to Nakayoshi-students. Also do not worry even if your child has not completedtoilet training. He/she gradually learns it while seeing other friends go to rest-room. This class focuses on getting usedto having basic lifestyle habits; in other words, this is the first step for children to become cheerful Mikunikko!
Not only the parents but the children may feel uneasy about new life in kindergarten at first. By coming to schooleveryday, children gradually notice that meeting teachers and friends in kindergarten is fun as well as spending timewith their mothers. Children are full of curiosity so they are not satisfied with spending time only at home. Our schoolprovides big playground equipment, open ground with a sandbox, and a wide green field! Freshmen who come toMikuni Kindergarten can be noticed growing up day by day! Students gradually enjoy playing with friends together.Their way of playing develops while Middlers and Seniors join it. Freshmen are too young to jump over the vaultinghorse so they admire Midders and Seniors who are doing it. Freshmen have a lot of new experiences such as living ingroups, following rules, spending time with teachers and friends of the same age. These experiences encouragestudents to try new things by themselves. Students get confidence when they achieve the things which s/he couldn’t do. With this confidence motivates them to do new challenges. These experiences gradually raise students’self-reliance while strengthen their mentally and physically. On a sunny day, students exercise outside the green fieldand grounds. After that, they enjoy singing songs with motions, using castanets, and drawing pictures inside. Althoughthey might not be able to run or jump over the vaulting horse or jumping rope yet students can cultivate thefoundations of physical and mental health from Freshmen.
There are two types of Middlers; those who have moved up from Freshman class and others who have just enteredkindergarten. Middlers who are in the second year of school turn their position from students who are taught from others to ones to teach others. As for Middlers who spend their time in kindergarten for the very first time, all of them are in same class so that they can get accustomed to the school life with their own pace. Middlers who moved up are good examples for new students. New students can naturally familiarize themselves into spending time in school while they see others and learn how to behave in school. Students in this grade are enthusiastic to challenges so they try a lot of new things like running outside of school, starting jumping over the vaulting horse, rope skipping and water color painting. They experience new things everyday like they go up the stairs step by step. We hope students feel various emotions including pleasure that they feel when they try new thing and bitterness when they were not able to do. Students do their best to achieve the goals that students need to cooperate with each other such as sports festival and Christmas pageants. When they achieve these goals, we can see their eyes are shining. Through these activities, Middlers learn the significance of doing their best and learn the pleasures in accomplishment which is attributed to it. Middlers learn basic lifestyle habits and gradually their attitude turns positive. Not they just follow what they are said, but they can think something in many ways by themselves. We, teachers are aiming to make every day productive for every student. Highlighted activities in this grade are: jumping vaulting horse (4-5boxes), digging sweet potatoes, jump rope and running the course outside of school.
Seniors in Mikuni kindergarten are full of energy and laughter! They are representatives of Mikuni who love Christ and have kind heart. Seniors become students who can cooperate with friends, think by themselves and overcome difficulties through experiences they learned from their past years. Seniors are good examples for the younger students in school! They develop the skill to change their attitude according their activity! Students fully enjoy playing and they devote themselves to be concentrated when they need. They make an effort to do everything including running, jumping vaulting horse, jumping rope and playing with horizontal iron bar. For example, when students play the pianica (piano and harmonica) for the first time, they feel “I wonder I can play it??” While practicing, their thoughts changes to “It is fun to play the pianica!” and “It is much more fun to play the pianica with others!” This process of practice and students’ achieving goals give them satisfaction and the attitude of never giving up. Students grow up with the satisfaction of achieving their goals. Parents can feel how wonderful students from Mikuni are when their children enter elementary school!
